  Yes, we offer a certification examination to test your skills in performing an FCE as well as using the webFCE software.

  We do recommend it if you have never performed an FCE test before, but it’s minimal.

  Almost all of the equipment required to perform the webFCE functional capacity evaluation is found in a standard

• 11. How much space is required to perform the functional capacity evaluation (FCE)?

  An FCE does not require much space at all to perform. A 10 by 10-foot room is ample space.

  You can easily transport all FCE equipment, including a laptop computer and a push-pull sled.

  Certification increases your credibility to employers and insurance carriers. webFCE offers free certification and
  examination. However, while we recommend getting certified, we do not require certification to use the software.

  Yes. By reviewing and signing the consent form, clients gain a better understanding of the FCE process. The consent
  also covers the examiner for any situations that may arise during the test.

  or circumstances?

  There is a core format to the FCE. However, the procedure and results are very flexible and can be customized to meet
  the needs of your client, insurance carrier, and workplace.

  When the client performs a complete FCE, it can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours to complete. Total time spent will
  depend on the individual’s injury, capabilities, pain levels, impairments, etc.

  The FCE is very easy to perform. All measurements taken are standard procedures performed by a clinician on a regular
  basis. Each work task is clearly illustrated and outlined so that the clinician can easily refer to them while
  conducting the test.

  There are a number of situations when an FCE should be performed, such as: When a return to work capability is
  requested by the client’s workplace and/or insurance carrier, after the client’s rehabilitation has concluded to
  measure the client’s progress during their rehabilitation, or to determine a client’s general functional capacity such
  as for a disability determination.

• 19. When should a follow-up functional capacity evaluation (FCE) be performed?

  Generally speaking, a follow-up FCE can be performed after one year, but it may be indicated sooner if a change in
  function is noted.

  Only one instructor is required to perform the FCE test.
